WELCOME TO WIDOWED WORLD
Editorial 10 May 2009
Greetings,
Launching the upgraded website has encouraged me to have a good look at the content and to see where we can take it from here. There is much for the newly widowed person but I realised that for so many like myself, that information wasn’t available or readily accessible from other sources when I most needed it, neither did there seem to be anything to give me a blueprint for the future. All I had was my own self reliance and the determination to use personal experiences to help other widowed people. Looking at my life five years on I can see that it would have been so helpful to have someone reassure me that grief does ease, one does eventually cease to feel bereaved, that life relentlessly propels one forward and that the ‘single’ life can become something one can begin to appreciate and even protect. We don’t choose to become widowed but there can be compensations if we’re open hearted and positive minded enough to allow them into our lives.
I see now that whilst continuing to provide as much information and support as possible for the recently bereaved, we need to include articles and information about how people have overcome widowhood and gone on to build satisfying and fulfilling lives for themselves in all manner of ways. There is now a new Menu heading ‘New Beginnings’ and under it you will find the first article ‘Five Years On’. If you’d like to share your story to encourage other people, please let us know. Articles can carry the name of the author or be anonymous. Meanwhile it would be great if you could occasionally respond to our Blogs or Forum topics – even start your own topics!
Until next time,
Jacquie
