Combining their personal experiences of widowhood and subsequent involvement in professionally supporting other widowed people, the authors put together a very practical guide that addresses just about every situation facing the widowed man or woman.  Chapters include topics such as ‘Dealing with Feelings’, ‘Legal and Financial Considerations’, ‘Day to Day Living’ and ‘Social Life’.

Whilst published in 1987, support for widowed people has changed little and this is a very practical, forward looking guide that seeks to help readers accept that their partner has died and to pick up the threads of life in a very positive way.  Written from a Canadian perspective, the book nonetheless contains much that applies to both widowed men and women throughout the Western world.
